This painting for me was about what the foxes in the nightmare landscape could do if they open their mouths and made that horrific noise. I always felt that at night, when I heard them, they could suck me in and slowly devour me more until I was no more. The iconic devil-fox appears not only in the centre of all three paintings but in the sky as it seems to be in control of everything down below.
